“The Lowdown at the Highball” continues to pick up stamina. Table Manners Crew (Austin’s longest running 2×4 DJ Crew) provides classic and underground danceable tracks from 11 til 2am. TMC brings 4 turntables and at least 3 DJs; Breakdance Austin gets the floor moving, and of course Nintendo Wii will be on the Big Screen. Look out for this event a few Thursdays a month. Straight out of Austin, live music capitol of the world, the Table Manners Crew (TMC) has been rocking the local hip-hop scene sine 2005. By blending their individual tastes and styles DJs Tats, Dirty Harry, DJ Crown, Kid Slyce and DJ Digg have been delivering crowd-pleasing sets that incorporate everything from the grimiest underground grooves to the funkiest party-bangers. As one of the local scene’s only DJ crews to incorporate the 2×4 set-up (two DJs and four turntables), TMC’s weekly Saturday night gigs at Plush (7th and Red River, Austin TX) have become widely regarded as mandatory events for all hip-hop aficionados. During a relatively short tenure they have turned many heads, including mentions and feature articles in numerous publications and an increasing number of guest DJs such as Austin heavyweights Nick Nack, Baby G, and Chicken George as well as NYC’s DJ Eleven and DJ Babu. Now with Scion’s Best 2×4 Mix Award under its belt, and the ‘07 Nature Sounds Mixtape the crew continues to make moves by taking their buzz into the studio to work on an EP and another mix CD release.
